Barry M - Textured Nail Effects

I am a big fan of Barry M - so when I saw that they had a new nail polish range out I couldn't stop my self from buying one of their new Textured Nail Paints.

First Impressions
I love the colours AND the names Barry M gave them:
  • Atlantic Road (pastel blue)
  • Kingsland Road (pastel pink)
  • Ridley Road (pastel green)
  • Station Road (pastel yellow)
It makes them seem all nice and summery :)

Application
The paint is very thin so I recommend about 2 coats for a strong colour, the good news is that they dry very quickly so the waiting time between coats is minimal.

There is no need for a top coat as that would defeat the point of the texture.

Looks and Durability
From right to left: Kingsland Road;
Atlantic Road; Ridley Road; Station Road
To be honest, the finished look makes it seem that there are lots of tiny air bubbles trapped in the polish, or that you dropped the brush of the floor so that bits of dust stuck on and was painted on your nails.

Although they do look quite nice from a distance, they have a sort of matted appearence.

Being textured the polish will get caught on more objects than normal, and although it drys quite hard, and I found that it would get 'worn down' within a fortnight. The finish will vary as I play the guitar alot which means that the nail polish will be worn away quicker than most people. I suspect that if you are careful/don't do many activitys that require fingernails you could get about 3 weeks out of them (although you will have proberly changed them by then :p).

Verdict - 3/5 stars
Although I love the idea of a textured nail polish and the colours Barry M have produced are extreemly pretty, the appearance lets them down as it looks like a bad manicure close up. Furthermore they don't last very long on your nails which seems a shame as they spice up even the dullest outfit.

However, as they are only £3.99 each, if you are looking for a new/quick application nail polish I recomend you pick one up as they are fun to apply and have a nice feel!

You can buy Barry M's 'Textured Nail Effect' from most cosmetic shops and online at www.barrym.com.
